Caley 1-3 Dundee United: The better team won
By: Ian Rose | December 7th, 2008We were largely uncreative, made few chances, and converted even fewer. Our home form continues to be laughably poor, and Dundee showed why they are sitting in a deserved European qualification place at the end of this weekend. The now-third-placed Terrors owned us early and often, and though we got one back from Adam Rooney, this match was never ours. Frankly, today, I’d rather talk about the rest of the league.
Caley remains in 9th place, by virtue of Motherwell’s postponement at Fir Park (get used to hearing those words … postponement at Fir Park), but we lost ground on an important competitor as St. Mirren beat Falkirk and rose off the bottom. Speaking of bottoms, the spanking of the weekend was most certainly Rangers 7-1 Accies at Ibrox … ouch. Our 5-0 loss there made me fairly useless for near a week – say a prayer for those Hamilton fans. Crazy stuff. Kris Boyd continues to score freely when he’s not abandoning his country because he doesn’t like the coach, and is on pace for another SPL scoring title.
And speaking of the necessary evil that is the Old Firm, Celtic ended their 12-game winning streak in the league with a 2-0 loss at Easter Road. Tee hee, indeed, Matt. Nice to see former Caley man John Rankin and his self-titled “squiggly” shot going past Boruc … he was always a fun player to watch in Inverness, and I’m glad he was able to perform on one of the biggest domestic stages, a match with Celtic. Nice work, John.
