Cheers, Motherwell: Dormant Caley Up a Spot
By: Ian Rose | December 16th, 2008How can you have the worst home record in the league and still be in tenth? How can you win one from nine in your own house, and still have two sides below you?
A glass-half-full optimist might say that our respectable road record keeps us afloat, or that keeping it close with teams like Celtic gives us a decent goal differential.
But really it’s the sheer fact that as badly as we’ve been playing, and as much as we’ve been losing, there are two top-flight teams in Scotland just the tiniest bit worse. Hamilton I expected to be bottom or near to it, but Motherwell, third last season, you’re a surprise. With your home loss to Killie today, you once again jump below us and prop my beloved Caley up to tenth. I honestly like the Well a lot, and I would be sad to see them go down, but not nearly as sad as to see my own boys drop. So, if you are going to get better, Motherwell, I’d appreciate if you wait at least two more weeks to do it. That’s all the Christmas present I need.
